Other Alternatives
In most cases issues with mail is caused by the outgoing connection settings. if the above are not working for you when sending there are a few things you can try.
1. Try using port 25 with STARTTLS which effectively upgrades your connection to be encrypted but still allowing you to use port 25.
2. Do not use password encryption. If your connection is encrypted alredy than so is your pasword being sent encrypted.
3. Use port 25 or 587 with no encryption (plain). Not recommended but if you need things to just work in a pinch this might well do it for you as a temporary fix.
If you prefer to use POP then you can do so, simply change type on incoming to POP and port to 143 (no encryption) or port 995 (encrypted). You may receive a notification or warning when connecting about the SSL certificate. This is normal, so be sure to accept the certificate permanently.
