Accessing External Database Print

If your applications need to access external databases for storing data, then you need to create ODBC connections through the Plesk Control panel.

To create an ODBC connection to an external database:

  1. Go to the Websites & Domains tab > ODBC Data Sources.
  2. Click Add New ODBC DSN.
  3. Specify the ODBC connection name and description in the corresponding fields.
  4. Select the required driver in the Driver field.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Choose the appropriate options on the driver configuration screen. You should specify Database, user credentials and other connection options, depending on the selected driver.
  7. Click Test Connection to check whether the connection will function properly with provided settings. Click Finish to complete the creation.



To change settings of an ODBC connection:

  1. Go to the Websites & Domains tab > ODBC Data Sources.
  2. Click the required connection name in the list.
  3. Change the settings as needed.
  4. Click Test Connection to check whether the connection will function properly with new settings. Click Finish to save changes.



To remove an ODBC connection:

  1. Go to the Websites & Domains tab > ODBC Data Sources.
  2. Select the checkbox corresponding to a connection you want to remove.
  3. Click Remove, confirm the removal and click OK.
